El Ron Prohibido

A Mexican rum with a great story behind it, El Ron Prohibido is a 12 year old rum blend using the solera system. The bitter-sweet rum gets a unique taste from it being aged in raisin wine barrels, along with dark chocolate, nutmeg and oak to go with it’s distinct fine wine taste. The rum was originally prohibited over in Spain by the monarchy as it was more popular than their native rum. The Habanero on the front on the bottle refers to the last port of call in Habana in Havana before it’s crossing to Spain.

Cocktail Suggestion

Palmetto, a short, semi-sweet dating back to the 1930’s using equal measurements of El Ron Prohibido, Sweet Vermouth and 2 dashes of orange bitters.
